Four teens charged after stealing wallet from elderly man

Police have charged Four teenagers after a 70-year-old man had his wallet stolen at Blacktown.

About 8.45am Thursday 1 October 2015, a 70-year-old man was walking north on Blacktown Road near the intersection of Wall Park Avenue.

The man was approached by three boys who engaged him in conversation until one of the teens reached out and stole a wallet from his shirt pocket. The man was not injured during the incident.

The teens ran from the area to a shopping centre where they were joined by a fourth boy.

Police will allege that the boys purchased an item of clothing with a stolen ATM card but were questioned by staff when they attempted to purchase clothing items at another store.

The teens left the store without the items and officers from Blacktown Local Area Command arrested three of the boys in Kildare Road and a fourth who attempted to flee a short distance away.

Two of the boys were found in possession of cannabis while a third was wearing the item of clothing (shorts) that had been purchased earlier.

The boys – two aged 16 and two aged 17 – were taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with theft, fraud and drug possession offences.

All four were granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on 15 October 2015.
