Fourth arrest over alleged torture and abduction of Gold Coast nurse

A fourth person has been charged in relation to the terrifying alleged robbery and abduction of a nurse outside a Gold Coast hospital in December.

An 18-year-old from Arundel has been charged with torture and deprivation of liberty, along with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and armed robbery.

It’s alleged he was with a group of balaclava-clad men who set upon 25-year-old male nurse Joe Brooker in the car park of Pindara Private Hospital at 3.30am on December 1.

Mr Brooker was allegedly threatened at gunpoint, bashed and slashed with a knife before being shoved into the boot of his car.

His car was then driven to an ATM at Parklands Drive in Parkwood, where Mr Brooker was allegedly made to withdraw a sum of money before he was placed back into the boot of his car.

It will be further alleged at 4.20am this vehicle crashed into a fence at Kurrambee Avenue at Ashmore and the offenders ran off.

Mr Brooker was found in the boot of the car by neighbours in the area and taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old man is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on May 1.

Three others, aged 16, 17 and 18, have already been charged.
