Fuel tanker fire closes M5 in Sydney
Drivers are being warned to avoid Sydney’s M5 after a truck caught fire at Beverley Hills.
The fuel tanker went up in flames around 5.40am on Sunday, bringing traffic on the busy freeway to a stop.
The driver of the truck was uninjured and is now speaking with police.
The road was closed in both directions while Fire & Rescue NSW brought the blaze under control.
Two hours later, both directions of the M5 remain closed to traffic between King Georges Road and Kingsgrove Road and drivers are being told to avoid the area.
If you’re heading to Sydney Airport you will need to add extra time to your trip and find another route.
