Fundraiser for alleged domestic violence victim raises over $20,000

A fundraising website set up to raise money for the family of a young mother who tragically died overnight following a horrific domestic violence attack has already raised over $20,000.

The Go Fund Me account was set up in Tara Brown’s honour just 21 hours ago, before the tragic news she had passed away from her injuries in Gold Coast University Hospital on Wednesday night.

Ms Brown was allegedly run off the road by her ex partner Lionel Patea while driving along Macquarie Avenue in Molendinar on Tuesday morning.

Her car rolled down an embankment and into a house, leaving her trapped in the vehicle.

While she lay in her crashed car, it’s further alleged Patea viciously assaulted her with a metal object, leaving her with critical head injuries, which later lead to her tragic passing.

The shocking attack touched the hearts of thousands, and overnight a close friend of the 24-year-old mother created a Go Fund Me account.

“As we all have seen or heard in someway about the [tragic] event that has taken place with our beautiful Tara and the effects this has had on her baby girl and extended family is heart breaking,” the page read.

“As a small token to show our love and support it would be greatly appreciated if we could all pull together and help raise as much as we can to help support the Brown family at this time. All funds will go directly to the family to support them and help them in whatever way possible.”

“Continue Praying for Tara her daughter needs her mummy and her family need her ❤️”

Come on sis, you can do this. We are all behind you? #prayfortara
