An 87-year-old great-grandfather is recovering in a Sydney hospital after his garage collapsed on top of him on Friday morning.
ALEX HEINKE reports.
The elderly man accidentally drove into the centre column of his double garage at Canada Bay and the structure came crashing down around him.

“It looks like he has driven forward and taken out the brick centre support of the garage which was attached to the side of the house,” Fire and Rescue New South Wales Inspector Tim Fox told the ABC.
“When he hit the centre support with some considerable force it has caused the entire car port to collapse down on to his vehicle.”
His neighbour called triple 0 after hearing cries, emergency crews arrived to insert supports under the tiles and bricks so paramedics could treat the man for a hand injury.
