GC acrobat gets suspended sentence for infecting woman with HIV

A Gold Coast circus performer has received a five-year suspended sentence after the High Court found he didn’t intentionally infect his former girlfriend with HIV.

Godfrey Zaburoni was previously sentenced to nine and a half years behind bars in 2013 after he was found guilty of intentionally transmitting the disease.

However in April, the High Court ruled that despite having frequent intercourse with his partner, there was no evidence to support he deliberately intended to infect her.

The 37-year-old was today sentenced to five years in jail suspended immediately.
