Cyclist critical after colliding with bush turkey at Currumbin

UPDATE: A man is in a critical condition after his race bike struck a bush turkey at Currumbin Valley early this morning.

The 45-year-old was travelling down a hill along Tomewin Mountain Road around 6.20am, when he collided with the bird.

He was thrown from his bike, suffering life threatening head injuries.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

EARLIER: A man has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after crashing his bike at Currumbin Valley this morning.

Emergency services were called to Tomewin Currumbin Creek Road around 6.20am after receiving reports a cyclist had suffered serious head injuries after falling off his bike.

Paramedics treated the 40-year-old at the scene before transporting him to Gold Coast University hospital.
