A Gold Coast man has been found guilty of wrongly accepting payment for landscaping services.
An Office of Fair Trading investigation established that between 11 March 2013 and 4 November 2014 the man wrongly accepted payment for landscaping services from six consumers.
A number of prosecution actions were undertaken by fair trading and as a result, the man was ordered to pay a total of $23,800 in fines and restitution.

Fair Trading Executive Director Brian Bauer said the investigation was undertaken after the OFT received complaints from six different people.
“This man’s conduct was not that of an unintentional failure, or because he simply forgot,” Mr Bauer said.
“Over an 18 month period, his business practice was to regularly change his advertisement in the local newspaper to various different trading names in order to fool consumers and hide his true identity.
“The conduct was deliberate in nature and intended to deceive and mislead the affected consumers.”
Consumers are being encouraged to make a complaint to the Office of Fair trading by calling 13 QGOV (13 74 68) if they have paid for goods or services they have not received.
