GC Meter Maids threatened with jail and fines over beach-food delivery

The beauty babes we all recognise from their sparkly gold bikinis and cowboy hats are facing possible jail time and hefty fines over their latest business venture.

The Gold Coast meter maids, who walk the Surfers Paradise glitter strip on a daily basis, have reportedly teamed up with a mobile delivery app and are planning to deliver food and drinks to locals on the beach.

While Gold Coasters may not be complaining, the aspiring plan may land the girls behind bars, with council threatening to take action against the service.

At the moment it is legal for pre-paid food to be delivered on the beach, however it is illegal for the food to be delivered directly through businesses.

More than 20 local restaurants have already signed up to be apart of the app, while the Meter Maids have been threatened with  two-year jail sentences and fines of up to $10,000 if they carry through with the plans, News Corp reports.

What ever happened to meter maids coming to the parked tourists rescue, when their meter had expired. Now we only see them promoting booze bars, fast food delivery and night clubs. Sad old place Surfers Paradise. Is it now known as the urine and booze capital of Australia?
