GC Police Officer breaks leg while trying to tackle suspect
A Police Officer is in hospital with a broken leg after crash tackling a suspect in Southport on Thursday night.
It’s understood the male officer was chasing the man down along Ferry Road around 8.00pm after responding to a public nuisance complaint.
The officer is said to have injured his leg during a crash tackle as he tried to make the arrest.
A Police spokesperson confirmed the officer was taken to the Gold Coast University hospital and is in a stable condition.
The offender was eventually taken in to custody and has since been charged with public nuisance and obstruct police offences although the charges may be upgraded.
