A 12-year-old school girl has been charged after she stabbed a fellow male classmate in the chest with a carving knife.
The horrifying attack took place at Coombabah high school on Tuesday morning after the boy allegedly tried to break up a fight between two girls.
Despite suffering a 2cm wound to his chest, the school failed to call an ambulance, instead sending the boy to the school nurse.

His family later took him to a doctor who sent him to Gold Coast University Hospital where he was assessed and cleared of serious injuries.
They have since expressed concern about why an ambulance wasn’t called immediately to the school to assess the teenager.
Police have charged the young girl, who allegedly brought the knife from home, with six offences. She will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
