GC600 construction causing traffic chaos for Gold Coast motorists

Construction for the 2016 Gold Coast 600 is well underway in Surfers Paradise with major traffic delays currently being experienced in the area.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the Gold Coast Highway, with traffic at a standstill northbound from Broadbeach to Macintosh Island.

Southbound lanes are also heavily congested.

People travelling on buses through Southport and Main Beach have also been advised to expect delays of up to an hour due to the traffic.

“Buses travelling in both directions along Southport and Main Beach will experience delays of up to 60 minuts due to heavy traffic congestion,” Translink posted.

The major roads affected by the constrution are – Esplanade, Gold Coast Highway, Main Beach Parade, Pacific Street and Rankin Parade.

Gold Coast motorists are being warned that delays are expected to get worst at peak times.
