Geotechnical engineers return to site of massive sinkhole on the Sunshine Coast
GEOTECHNICAL engineers will return to a camping ground on the Sunshine Coast today, after a massive sinkhole swallowed a car, caravan and camping trailer on Saturday.
About 300 people have been evacuated from the camping ground as it’s now believed the sinkhole, which opened at Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach at about 11pm on Saturday, is 200 metres long.
Geotechnical engineers have completed an initial assessment and will conduct further inspections today.
They’re expected to use ground-penetrating radar to assess the area surrounding the massive hole to check its stability.
