A BUNCH of champion drivers have left their rivalries at the door for the official opening of Australia’s first official V8 Supercar driving experience, on the Gold Coast.
Current V8 Champion Jamie Whincup, along with Will Davison, James Courtney and Mark Winterbottom converged on the Performance Driving Centre track at Norwell yesterday.
V8 Supercars Chief Executive Officer, James Warburton said the partnership will see the purpose-built facility offer a new range of adrenalin-pumping experiences, in addition to its comprehensive driver training activities and road-safety programs.
“The partnership is centered on providing a high quality V8 Supercar experience and road safety which is a long-standing focus of the V8 Supercar community programs,” Mr Warburton said.
“Each year V8 Supercar drivers deliver presentations to hundreds of schools and community groups throughout the country with the aim of sharing the practical skills and know-how which surrounds safe driving on our roads,” he added.
Owner Paul Morris also gave the V8 Supercars Official Driving Experience his endorsement.
“I have been involved in driver training and drive experiences for over 25 years. It has always been a dream of mine to bring the V8 Supercars brand and driver training together,” Mr Morris said.
“With our purpose built facility and the involvement of V8 Supercars, we offer an authentic experience in a safe environment where fans get the opportunity to see what is like to drive, ride and race in a V8 Supercar.”
The Experience is home to two genuine V8 Supercars, several V8 Supercar-based production cars, go-karts, a Barina Driver Challenge and features a skid pan; an off-road, four wheel drive training course; and the only mechanical ‘TurnTable’ in the Southern Hemisphere.
