Where to get sandbags on the Gold Coast

Update at 8 October 2018: City of Gold Coast wish to advise that sandbags are only available through Council in response to severe events and sandbags are not currently available from City of Gold Coast.

Earlier at 30 March 2017: A number of residents across the Gold Coast may require sandbags to protect their homes as ex-tropical cyclone Debbie wreaks havoc on the region.

City of Gold Coast has advised that residents may obtain sandbags from their local hardware store.

Additionally, sandbags and sand can be obtained from the following council locations:

Coomera – 232 Old Pacific Highway, Pimpama

Miami – 2 Ozone Parade, Miami8

Tugun – 56 Boyd Street, Tugun

Residents are encouraged to bring their own shovel if they wish to collect sandbags from the above locations.

At this stage, council does not fill and deliver sandbags to residences. The SES is not currently providing sandbags to residences either.

If you require SES assistance, call 132 500 or  you can lodge your request for assistance online here. There is also an App available for both Apple and Android devices via iTunes and Google play. The App enables you to log a request for SES emergency assistance instead of phoning and waiting on hold during peak times.
