Giant jolly sheep to be shorn

A very woolly sheep, found wandering around Canberra, will soon have a big weight lifted off his shoulders.

The poor animal was spotted all alone this week after authorities received a tip off last week.

The ABC reported a national shearing champion has been called in by the RSPCA to shear the sheep this morning.

Animal experts say the animal would be at risk of developing serious medical conditions if he remained in his current state.

According to the ABC four time Australian Shearing Championship winner Ian Elkins is the man for the job.

The animal may need to be shorn several times to get him back to an acceptable condition but the RSPCA is worried all that wool could be hiding infections and the like.
