Girl, 16, killed after four-wheel-drive rolls on beach

A TEENAGE girl has died after the four-wheel-drive she was in flipped and rolled on a beach in central Queensland.

The accident happened at Five Rocks Beach at Yeppoon around midnight on Saturday.

Tragically, a 16-year-old girl from Yeppoon was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said the teen was a passenger in the vehicle, which was being driven by a 21-year-old man.

A second passenger, also a 21-year-old man, was airlifted to Rockhampton Base Hospital with a broken leg.

The driver, however, managed to escape serious injury.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
