Girl, 17, charged with armed robbery of Surfers Paradise store

UPDATE: A TEENAGER has been released on bail after facing court on armed robbery charges this morning.

The 17-year-old woman appeared in Southport Magistrates Court, charged with the armed hold up of a Surfers Paradise Lucky7 store on Monday night where around $1000 in cash was stolen.

She was charged with armed robbery and stealing. Her accomplice, a second woman, remains on the run.

EARLIER: A TEENAGER will face court today, charged over the armed robbery of a Surfers Paradise convenience store earlier this week.

Police allege two women targeted the Lucky7 store on Surfers Paradise Boulevard just after 7pm on Monday night.

The pair were seen on CCTV entering the store and moving to the rear of the building where they appeared to wait for customers in the shop to leave.

One of the women then approached the female store attendant behind the counter and produced a large kitchen knife, demanding access to the till while her accomplice kept watch for any witnesses.

Both fled the scene on foot after obtaining around $1000 in cash. Thankfully, no one was physically injured.

On Wednesday, detectives from the Northern Investigative Group (Gold Coast CIB) arrested and charged a 17-year-old Surfers Paradise woman with armed robbery and stealing.

She is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
