Girl, 2, airlifted to hospital after near drowning north-west of Brisbane

A TWO-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition following a near drowning north-west of Brisbane.

Paramedics were called to a house at Woodford, around 24 kilometres west of Caboolture, on Sunday afternoon.

On arrival, they found the little girl barely alive after swallowing an excessive amount of water.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics and has since been airlifted to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

Queensland Ambulance said the child is in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, a one-year-old girl has been transported to the same hospital after she too almost drowned in a backyard swimming pool at a house in Daisy Hill around 2.40pm.

She was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived. Queensland Ambulance said she was in a stable condition.

It comes after a three-year-old boy almost drowned at a private residence in Broadbeach Waters.

He’s in a stable condition in the Gold Coast University Hospital.
