IT has been a tragic start to Christmas on our roads, with a little girl killed in a horror head-on crash near Toowoomba.
It’s understood two cars travelling in opposite directions collided on the Gaton Esk Road near the intersection of Buaraba Creek Road at Buaraba, south of Esk, about 7.50pm on Saturday.
Police said a three-year-old girl died at the scene while a four-year-old boy was taken to Gatton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old woman was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries and a 24-year-old male occupant of the same car was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 24-year-old male, was also transported to Gatton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
At 11.35pm on Saturday, the intersection remained closed whilst the Forensic Crash Unit examined the scene.
It comes after a 17-year-old girl was killed in a single vehicle accident on the Sunshine Coast on Friday night.
She was a passenger in a car that veered off Caloundra Road about 9.50pm and slammed into a tree.
The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and two other occupants were rushed to Nambour hospital in a serious condition.
