A YOUNG girl has been injured after a car ploughed through the front yard of her Gold Coast home following what has been described as an unfortunate chain of events.
It’s understood an 81-year-old woman lost control of her car on Nineteenth Avenue at Palm Beach after she was rear-ended by a white ute just before 11.30am.
The elderly driver veered off the road and crashed through the front cement boundary fence of a nearby home, causing part of the wall to collapse onto a five-year-old girl in the front yard.
Police said she was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with a serious leg injury.
Both drivers were described as being “very upset” and were treated at the scene for shock.
Traffic was diverted around the scene while the wreckage was cleared.
