Girl killed, parents injured in horror crash on SE Qld highway

A teenage girl has died and her parents have been seriously injured in a horror three-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway at Oakey.

It’s understood the family were returning from holidays when tragedy struck around 9.15am.

According to police, a semi-trailer was travelling east along the highway when it collided with a utility travelling in the same direction.

The force of the collision pushed the utility into the path of on-coming traffic, where it crashed into a sedan.

A 17-year-old girl, who was travelling as a passenger in the sedan, was killed instantly.

The young girl’s parents, 48-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were both airlifted to hospitals in Brisbane with serious injuries.

The driver of the ute and truck miraculously managed to escape uninjured.

Investigations by the Toowoomba Forensic Crash Unit are underway.
