Girls, 14, charged over violent robbery in shopping centre carpark

TWO 14-year-old girls have been charged after a woman was allegedly smashed over the head with an object during a violent robbery in Shailer Park.

Police say it happened in the carpark of a shopping centre off the Pacific Highway just after 9.00pm last night.

The teens allegedly approached a 37-year-old woman as she was walking to her car and demanded she hand over her mobile.

“The woman refused and was struck over the head with an object a number of times before the teenage girls took her mobile and handbag and left the area,” Police said.

She was treated for minor injuries, whilst officers tracked down the girls in a nearby street with the help of a police dog.

The pair, one from Red Hill and the other from Meridan Plains, have been charged with one count each of robbery in company and stealing.
