How to go backwards at 115kph through a non-inverted loop

The bright pink rails just skimming the ground at the entrance of Movie World give you a hint of the thrills to come.

The first Hyper-Coaster in the Southern Hemisphere will open on the Gold Coast in October.

Village Road Show Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby isn’t revealing the multi-million dollar cost, but says it’s their biggest ever investment in a thrill ride.

“A Hyper-Coaster is defined by having a height or a drop over 61 metres,” he said.

“This is the most technologically-advanced coaster in the entire world; it will take guests on a journey of exhilarating speeds of to 115 kilometres an hour through a series of twists, loops and spirals.

“It does represent the single largest investment we have made in a ride.”

Mr Kirby said such a significant spend demonstrates how much the company believes in the industry and the Gold Coast.

The DC Rivals Hyper Coaster will be themed around the DC Universe featuring some of the most epic battles and rivalries between their iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains.

It will generate forces of up to 4.3G along the 1.4km track, almost double the length of any other ride on the Gold Coast.

For those with an iron-cast stomach it will also feature a world-first train design giving selected patrons the opportunity to ride backwards as they take on one of the world’s first non-inverted loops.

“Attractions like this will give people another reason to come to the Gold Coast,” he said.

“The whole industry has taken a bit of a hit and announcements like this represent our continued commitment and confidence in the sector and the Gold Coast in general.”
