Gold Coast awarded Crime and Violence Prevention Award

THE Gold Coast will this week proudly accept a National Institute of Criminology Crime and Violence Prevention Award.

The City is being honoured for its Meet Your Street initiative, which aims to create safer suburbs by building strong community connections.

Cr Bob La Castra will accept the award from the Queensland Police Service on Thursday morning at the new Upper Coomera Centre.

Along with the award is a $5,000 cash prize which the City is using to help residents and groups fund their own Meet Our Street events.

Not-for-profit groups can apply for up to $500 and local residents can apply for $100 in vouchers.
