Gold Coast beaches to remain closed
Gold Coast beaches will remain closed again today as deceptively powerful surf conditions continue to pound the coast.
City of Gold Coast released a statement on Facebook on Monday night confirming beaches will remain closed for yet another day.
“There remains significant inshore currents and a strong swell although it is decreasing,” the status read.
“We’ll inform you as soon as they reopen.”
Huge waves have smashed Gold Coast beaches over the last few days, brought about by a king tide and powerful northeasterly swell.
Forecasts show the Gold Coast will be in for pumping swell for the next few days before waves drop to a manageable two metres for boardriders.
