Swimmers will have to stay out of the water for at least another day, with all Gold Coast beaches remaining closed following the severe weather event.
Lifeguards assessed the conditions again this morning, but deemed it still too dangerous for beaches to reopen to the public.
Chief Lifeguard Warren Young told myGC the debris that washed ashore earlier this week was still posing a risk.

“There’s really poor visibility, a lot of debris around, a strong swell and strong currents as well,” he said.
“It’s just not good beach weather by any means, so just give it some time until it settles down”.
Council has also urged to locals to remain alert if heading out for a walk along the beach.
“Please be cautious if walking on the beaches, due to debris being washed ashore,” a Council spokesperson said.
City crews are continuing to work to clear the debris from the beaches today.
