However, a spokesperson from Queensland Corrective Services confirmed Sikorsky died in hospital on Friday morning.
Sikorsky was awaiting trial for the alleged murder of his 16-year-old girlfriend, whose body was found stuffed inside a barrel on the back of a ute at Stapylton back in 2018.
He was due to face trial in the Supreme Court charged with murder, torture, deprivation of liberty and interfering with a corpse.
Investigations into the prison assault are continuing.
