Gold Coast bracing for a drenching with heavy rain on the way

The Gold Coast is preparing for a late summer drenching with more than 100 millimetres of rain possible over the next three days.

Showers and a possible storm have been forecast for Tuesday but the rain will really pick up from Wednesday.

Up to 40mm is predicted to fall across the Coast tomorrow with the heaviest falls expected from late morning.

Thursday will be worse with a coastal trough expected to develop anywhere from Central Queensland to the southeast.

Heavy falls are expected with up to 70mm of rain possible.

There’ll be no relief on Friday with the trough expected to continue impacting Queensland with up to 45 mm of rain expected on the Gold Coast.

Showers are forecast to ease across the weekend.
