Gold Coast bracing for possibly severe storms today

The Gold Coast is being warned to prepare for possibly severe storms again today.

The Bureau is predicting they could roll in from late morning, at the very least bringing some more rain.

It follows Monday’s wild weather which saw the city lashed with storms, rain and even hailstones in parts.


There were around 20 calls to the SES for help throughout the afternoon’s activity.

While there have also been dozens of insurance claims for homes and cars since.

The full forecast for the Gold Coast for Wednesday includes a high chance (70 per cent) of showers from late morning and the chance of a thunderstorm from later this morning, possibly severe.

Light winds become east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then becomes light in the evening.

Temperatures will reach up to 25 degrees.
