Gold Coast cabbie robbed of his vehicle
A man will face Southport Court on Saturday accused of stealing a taxi which was later found at a Hinterland pub.
The NSW local got in the cab on Wardoo Street in Southport around 2.30pm on Friday.
It’s alleged he assaulted the driver on Nerang-Broadbeach Road in Carrara before forcing him from the vehicle and driving off.
The 27-year-old male driver was not physically injured during the incident.
Police later found the stolen taxi in the carpark of a licensed premises in Canungra, where a man was taken into custody.
A 32-year-old man from New South Wales was charged with robbery with violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, stealing and wilful damage.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
