Gold Coast Careers Expo to provide inspiration today

THOUSANDS of students are set to turn to the Gold Coast Careers Expo for inspiration today.

The event, at RACV Royal Pines, is also expected to attract a growing number of adults, keen to pursue a new path.

The one-day event runs from 9am to 7pm and will include more than 100 exhibitors.

Those who attend can get information from Bond, Griffith and Southern Cross Universities as well as Gold Coast Institute of TAFE (GCIT), North Gold Coast TAFE and the Department of Education.

You can even talk to people from the Queensland Police and Fire Services, along with RACQ, Queensland Health, Academy of Design, New York Film Academy and Air Gold Coast.

GCIT is proud to have one of its former students managing the Careers Expo.

Less than a year ago, Aly Magat was studying the Events Diploma at GCIT and was a job seeker, now the shoe is on the other foot.

Aly said studying at GCIT not only gave her a thorough background on how the events industry operates and what’s required, but she experienced vocational placements with various businesses as well as project managing a live event at the Institute.

“The teachers are really well-connected so finding placements was not an issue. I finished the course having work experience. My placements gave me a hands-on knowledge of how to operate in the workplace,” Aly said.
