THE Gold Coast City Council’s Bike Week is aimed at supporting active riders and encouraging others to get out and give it a go.
The week sees events like BMX demonstrations, maintenance workshops, introductions to mountain biking and ride to work breakfasts.
Bike Week spokesperson Sara Carrigan knows a thing or two about bicycles.

Sara’s a former Olympic gold medallist, professional cyclist and all-round cycling enthusiast.
“The Gold Coast is the most beautiful place to ride, we’ve got the beach front, there’s the Hinterland,” she said.
“The fantastic thing is that the council has created 800km of bikeways… that link neighbourhoods, businesses, schools, parks and beaches all around the Gold Coast.”
