Gold Coast City Plan 2015 edging closer to reality

VISION for the future of the Gold Coast has become a little clearer with the City Plan 2015 granted conditional approval by the State Government.

Mayor Tom Tate has described the plan as way to deliver growth and a stronger, more diverse economy for the city, while protecting our lifestyle.

“This is a momentous milestone in shaping the Gold Coast as a mature world-class city,” he said.

“This is the city’s biggest economic lever which will give confidence to businesses and certainty to residents.”

The city received 2,401 submissions containing 3,806 separate points.

“The new plan is simpler and clearer than ever. Anyone can read and understand it – it’s half the size with half the words, while maintaining a robust planning framework.”

The main focus is on housing, jobs, key infrastructure and the environment.

The City Plan Special Committee will consider and respond to conditions, prior to the plan being presented to full Council on December 11 for endorsement to commence.
