Gold Coast company ready to secure $9million international deal

THANKS to assistance from the City of Gold Coast, a local company has potentially secured a $9 million deal in six overseas regions.

Burleigh-based business Skin 02, which sells a range of doctor’s formula skin-care and make-up products, has returned from the Arab Health Show in Dubai ready to sign off on a multi-million export deal in six regions.

The company was one of eight local businesses to receive support from the City of Gold Coast’s business development arm to attend the show, which included mentoring, advice and facilitating a stand.

Mayor Tom Tate said the assistance had been provided as part of the City’s International Plan, which aimed to promote the Gold Coast to foreign investors and to significantly increase the City’s export base.

“We’re committed to supporting the city’s fastest growing industries and in particular encouraging export and investment,” he said.

“I congratulate Skin02 on this significant achievement and wish them continued success.”

Skin 02 Managing Director Alison Atia said her company could not have achieved the contacts and potential sales without the support and guidance from the City of Gold Coast.

“I was totally overwhelmed by the response at the trade show – it was just amazing,” she said.

“The pre-preparation and export advice we received from the City of Gold Coast was invaluable and it meant once we got there we were directly head-hunted by company CEOs wanting to do business with us,” Ms Atia said.

“Being able to operate from the City of Gold Coast’s stand added significant credibility to our brand which gave buyers confidence in who they were dealing with. Brand Gold Coast is very strong in this market so we could leverage it to our advantage.”

Ms Atia said she would be finalising deals with the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, India, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai/Abu Dhabi in the coming weeks.

Skin02 will now be recruiting another three full-time employees and additional casual staff for its warehouse operations at Burleigh.
