Gold Coast ‘coward punch’ victim dies in hospital
UPDATE: Ashmore’s Mark English has died in hospital after he was allegedly ‘coward punched’ by his son in Brisbane’s CBD on Monday afternoon.
The 25-year-old has had an early charge of grievous bodily harm upgraded to unlawful striking causing death and will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
EARLIER: A Gold Coast man is in an induced coma after he was allegedly ‘coward punched’ by his son in Brisbane’s CBD on Monday.
The Brisbane Times reports that 53-year-old Mark English was walking near Central train station with his partner when his son saw them.
Police say the 25-year-old spoke to the pair before he punched his dad in the mouth, causing him to fall backwards.
He was knocked out when his head hit the concrete.
The 25-year-old left, returned, then left again before he was finally arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.
He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
