THE 2014 Gold Coast Cycle Fest – GCCF – is set to explode this weekend with thousands of cyclists and spectators ready to descend on the city for one of they country’s leading riding events.
It’ll be held over Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of October – with Metricon Stadium transforming into a cycling and community hub for the events, founded by cycling legend Robbie McEwen.
According to McEwen, the 2014 event will be the biggest in terms of participants and what’s available for both advanced cyclist’s to beginners.

“Our event this year will see us conduct two jam-packed days of events both on and off the bike,” said McEwen.
“Our aim this year has been to make the event not just about the bikes, but really build on the events around the cycling, in-line with our goal of making this one of the leading cycling events in the Asia Pacific region.”
The GCCF will kick of on Saturday morning with the Cycling Criterium which is an 850m anti-clockwise circuit around Metricon Stadium Plaza Drive.
Celebrities such as Ironwoman Hayley Bateup, Channel 7 presenter Paul Burt and Hot Tomato host Luke Bradnam will be battling it out in the Gran Prix Celebrity Time Trials.
There’ll also be a Kids Gran Prix if you’re looking for something to keep the kids busy this weekend.
