Gold Coast Domino’s won-dough-ful fundraiser for Kelly Wilkinson

More than two dozen Gold Coast Domino’s stores are rallying to support Kelly Wilkinson’s family after her shocking murder this week.

On Wednesday 28 April, 26 Gold Coast Domino’s stores will participate in the aptly named ‘doughraiser’ to help raise much needed funds for Wilkinson’s three children.

Hot Tomato’s Moyra & Baggs spoke to Domino’s franchisee, Nicole, who owns nine stores on the Gold Coast about her fundraising endeavours and her appeal to pizzas lovers in the community.

“We were obviously shocked as everyone was in the community and within a couple of hours we had put out the call to all the franchisees on the coast,” said Nicole.

“Everyone got back to us within a really short period of time to say – yep, our stores are in, let’s get behind this family at this time of obviously great need.

“We’ve now got every store from Ormeau down to Tweed participating, so it’s the 26 stores.

“Any pizza [sold] on that Wednesday, a dollar from that will be going straight to the family during this time.

“So don’t hesitate… what I have said to people reaching out, you know if you normally order a pizza on a Tuesday or a Thursday, just switch it to Wednesday,” said the Domino’s franchisee.

Domino’s head office will also be matching the amount raised dollar for dollar, “which is amazing,” said Moyra Major, Hot Tomato radio host.

“It’s really, really incredible… Tuesday night we put out the call for the franchisees… and then Nathan, my husband, sent an email through to Nick, the CEO. By the next morning… Nick responded back and said ‘every dollar you raise, we’ll match that’,” Nicole told the radio hosts.

“We can only do what we can do. We make pizzas so that’s how we can contribute to these guys in their time [of] need, people reaching out and helping them.”

Hot Tomato radio host Simon Baggs said, “hopefully this encourages other businesses on the Gold Coast and also in South-East Queensland to do the same thing as well and try to raise some money for this family.”

Moyra Major added, “my family, we usually have pizza on a Friday night, we’ll be having it on Wednesday night next week and I think there’s a lot of people that will be having pizza parties for Kelly and her family.”

The Domino’s franchisee appealed to other members of the community saying, “we all can help in different ways. Anyone, any other businesses, think about what you could possibly do to help this family out.”

A Go Fund Me page has now raised over $100,000 for the Gold Coast mother of three, who was allegedly murdered by her estranged husband at her home on Tuesday morning.
