Gold Coast drug kingpin refused bail

ALLEGED Gold Coast drug kingpin Ivan Tesic has been refused bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court today.

Tesic, who part owns Surfers Paradise nightclub Club Liv, is accused of heading up a cocaine importing and distribution racket.

He fronted Court this morning following police raids in April targeting drug distribution networks in Surfers.

He’s charged with trafficking and posessing dangerous drugs as the office bearer or leader of a criminal organisation.

His lawyers told the court their client was unlikely to face trial until 2016 and should be granted conditional bail.

However the court agreed with the prosecution that Tesic was likely to interfere with witnesses if released.

It comes despite him also offering to put up a $2 million surety to secure his release.
