GOLD Coasters have shivered through two of their iciest mornings in 28 years, with near sub-zero temperatures sweeping across the city.
Many suburbs, particularly those inland, were blanketed with frost on Friday morning and again on Saturday, as temperatures plunged to around 1C which is nine degrees below the average.
Some hinterland communities recorded temperatures down to minus 2C.

Our mornings have since warmed a little, with lows expected to sit between 11-14C until midweek when they dip again.
The mercury is forecast to plunge back into the single digits by early Saturday.
Coastal showers are possible this afternoon, tomorrow and Wednesday, before clear, sunny conditions return from Thursday.
Daytime temps will remain between 20-22C during this time.
