2018 Gold Coast Pop Up Science Centre
The 2018 Gold Coast Pop-Up Science Centre is a free community event, targeting all age groups, and designed as a final celebration of National Science Week. The daylong event gives local communities the opportunity to engage, experiment and explore STEM through a showcase of hands-on activities and exhibits provided by local schools, educational institutions, scientific organisations, local businesses and industry partners. The Pop-Up Science Centre is an opportunity for locals to experience, first-hand, the benefits of having a hands-on Science Centre in their community – a social amenity that is sadly lacking in Queensland’s second largest and fastest growing population centre.
The 2018 Gold Coast Pop-Up Science Centre will be held at the Helensvale Night-Quarter venue on Sunday August 19th 2018. The venue is conveniently located adjacent to the Helensvale rail and tram stations. Over 6000 people are predicted to attend this years’ event.
The overall aim of the event is to create an interest in the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This will be achieved by highlighting the relevance of science in everyday life and providing an opportunity for the community to interact with professionals in the scientific field to promote and demystify career opportunities through science. The event will also showcase a wide range of STEM related industries that recruit science graduates.
