Chinese New Year Celebration at Sanctuary Cove

Sanctuary Cove will come alive with colour and cultural entertainment as The Marine Village welcomes the Chinese New Year with a host of vibrant performances and activities from February 16 – 18 highlighted by Sunday’s family day.

On Sunday, everyone from children to adults will have the chance to immerse themselves in the Chinese culture with family-approved fun, as The Marine Village bustles with activities including calligraphy, lantern painting, face painting and a giant jumping castle.

The whole family will marvel as fireworks light up the night sky on Friday evening over the marina, as well as being captivated by the grandeur of traditional lion dancing on Friday and Saturday evenings. With highly embellished, bold costumes and the accompaniment of bells and drums, the rhythmic traditional Chinese dance will be performed to bring good luck, fortune and drive away evil spirits.

Lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine won’t want to miss out on a seat at the annual Dragon Cove Chinese Restaurant’s Chinese New Year Banquet. Guests’ taste buds will be transported to China with a myriad of traditional dishes such as steamed fish fillet with ginger and shallot, and black pepper eye fillet, served up with a priceless view of the marina.

Guests can indulge in the taste of Asia with a traditional eight-course spring banquet featuring classic Chinese dishes at Dragon Cove Chinese Cuisine for just $78 per person, or half price for children.

The banquet is just one of many celebrations planned in The Marine Village to bring in the Chinese New Year with fun, tradition and style.
