Flotsam Festival – Gold Coast

Hear that rumble? It’s the sound of a massive program dropping for Flotsam, Gold Coast’s new film and photography festival exploring the creative side of surf culture.

Flotsam will take over several spaces on the southern Gold Coast in early May offering Gold Coast visitors an exciting season of sea-inspired cinema amidst a whirlwind of short film premieres, workshops, in-depth discussions with film makers and photographers, and photographic exhibitions staged both indoor and out.

As a newly curated event, Flotsam aims to support Gold Coast local surf filmmakers and photographic artists and their work, with a long-term goal to provide ongoing opportunities to retain artists in these fields, generate increased economic activity in the southern Gold Coast tourism sector, with flow-on effects for all local businesses and celebrate the southern Gold Coast’s iconic beaches and endemic surf culture through creative, visual events that bring together the local community as well as the wider surf and creative communities at large.
