South Coast Soccer Pride Round
The Mudgeeraba Wallabies will make soccer history next month when they host the first Pride Round for the sport in Australia.
The initiative has teams wear rainbow colours to celebrate inclusion and diversity in sport, and to show LGBTI+ players and fans that they are welcome and accepted.
Sid Bigg Park will be awash with rainbow colours from June 6 to 11 when the club’s men’s and women’s teams take to the field for South Coast fixtures against five other Gold Coast clubs. After the final men’s game on the Saturday, the feature match of South Coast Soccer Pride Round, the celebration will culminate in a Pride Party at the Mudgeeraba clubrooms.
In the week prior, the national Pride Cup organisation will deliver an LGBTI+ education session online, which will be open to all Queensland soccer teams.
