Violence against women is at epidemic levels in Australia. One in two women has experienced sexual harassment in their lifetime. One woman a week is killed at the hands of a current or former partner.
This issue affects all of us. But there is a solution. This White Ribbon Day, Friday 23 November, communities all over Australia are coming together, and saying ‘no’ to violence against women.
Awareness and funds raised at my event will help White Ribbon’s mission to change the attitudes and behaviours that support or excuse this violence against women in Australia.
The White Ribbon Campaign objectives are:
- to create widespread awareness of the positive role that men can play in stopping violence against women,
- to enable leadership, particularly by men & boys, to bring about social change, and
- to build collective knowledge and understanding of the effective prevention of violence against women.
The White Ribbon Charity Event will be one of many events taking place across Australia this November to raise critical funds for White Ribbon Australia.
