Gold Coast experience centre opens ahead of school holidays

Locals and visitors can discover the best things to do on the Gold Coast at a brand new experience centre, now open in Surfers Paradise.

Experience Oz’s concept store is the first-of-its-kind in Queensland and is designed to be a friendly welcome hub for visitors and locals looking to find the best deals on all the top Gold Coast attractions.

Fitted with an in-house cafe, luggage storage facilities, a lolly store, information and charging stations, visitors will also be able to enjoy regular pop-up activations from some of the city’s premium attractions and tour operators including Sea World, Dreamworld and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Experience Oz Special Projects General Manager Craig Undery said the store will contribute to the overall experience of visitors to the city.

“Our purpose with The Experience Centre is to inspire locals and visitors to begin experiencing all that the Gold Coast and surrounding regions have to offer, by promoting the best deals on offer from local tourism operators who are ready to safely welcome back visitors again,” he said.

“We’ve been working behind-the-scenes on getting The Experience Centre off the ground for the past 12 months, and although we are met with unprecedented times that have significantly impacted the tourism industry, we have confidence that within due course the domestic tourism market will improve.”

“We are calling on locals from the Gold Coast and surrounding regions to try an experience they’ve never done before this school holidays and help put a smile back on the faces of local tourism business owners. If you’re in a position to do so, book an experience and enjoy the day out rediscovering your backyard,” added Mr Undery.

The Experience Centre will also be hosting a range of pop up activations from some of the city’s favourite attractions across two weekends during the school holidays.

Dreamworld will host a meet & greet with characters Kenny Koala and Belinda Brown from 10am – 12pm this Saturday.

Next week, on Saturday 26 September, Sea World will delight families with a visit from Spongebob and Patrick from 10am – 12pm, followed by a meet and greet with Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s loveable Blinky Bill on Sunday, 27 September from 10am – 12pm.

Kids young and old are encouraged to dress up in their favourite superhero and costume characters and come along to meet and greet some of Australia’s favourite characters.

The Experience Centre is located at 3200 Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise and is operating under a government-approved COVID-Safe plan with social distancing measures and capacity limits in place.
