Gold Coast factory fire sparks evacuations, road closures
A FIERCE factory fire at Biggera Waters on the Gold Coast has forced the evacuation of nearby businesses.
Emergency services received multiple triple zero calls around 6pm, alerting them to a large structure fire on Brisbane Road.
When crews arrived, they found a large factory well involved in flames. Scroll down for videos.

A large plume of thick black smoke filled the sky above the suburb and could be seen from both ends of the Gold Coast.
Videos uploaded to social media show flames shooting out of the factory’s roof.

Police are setting up road closures in the area. Brisbane Road was initially closed in both directions near the scene of the fire, however, reports on social media indicate it has since reopened.
At this stage, there are no reports of any injuries, however, paramedics are on standby.

Police have confirmed they have also evacuated neighbouring businesses as a precaution.
Witnesses have told myGC how they recalled hearing an explosions before seeing the plume of smoke.

Members of the public were first on the scene, armed with garden hoses.
