Gold Coast friends take on 24 hour treadmill challenge for cancer

Chris Evans and Antony Sedman are challenging locals to join them as they hit the treadmill for charity next month.

The Gold Coast friends, who have named themselves The Wounded Pelicans, have pledged to take part in 37 endurance events in 2016 in an effort to raise $20,000 for Cancer Council Queensland.

The Wounded Pelicans will run on separate treadmills for 24 hours straight at Justin’s Park in Burleigh Heads from 7am on Saturday, September 3.

The pair said there were two main reasons why they decided to take on this challenge – they wanted to see how far they could run in 24 hours and try to raise the remainder $6800 needed to reach their goal.

There will be additional treadmills and exercise equipment for public use at the event, plus marquees with food, coffee, merchandise, entertainment, competitions and more.

Mr Sedman invited the community to attend the event in support of all Queenslanders affected by cancer.

“We challenge people to show their support for us and Cancer Council Queensland,” he said.
