Gold Coast hinterland road blocked off by landslips

A popular hinterland road has had to be closed off to traffic this week as a result of landslips.

Gold Coast Springbrook Road has been ‘temporarily closed in BOTH directions due to landslips,” the Transport and Main Roads site reads.

All lanes are blocked in both directions, with the road to be closed off between 11.35 AM Tuesday, April 20 through to 2.00 PM on Friday, April 23.

Motorists are being urged to use the Pine Creek Road detour and to allow extra time if travelling through the area.

Crews will work to repair the road before the weekend.

The Springbrook community reported the landslip early this morning, sharing the news on the Springbrook Mountain Community Association.

“In case you haven’t heard, there’s a big landslide just above the Water Trough at the one way and the Gold Coast Springbrook Rd, more commonly referred to as the front road, is CLOSED.

“It’s a tricky slide with some giant boulders that need to come out and information direct from the worksite seems to indicate that we will be using Pine Creek Road (The Back Rd) until at least Friday and possibly longer,” this morning’s post reads.

Well done to the Springbrook Mountain Community Association for looking after residents, making the volunteer effort of gathering accurate information and publishing for the wider community.

Sure speeds up the flow of information with this already available for media outlets to verify.
