Gold Coast hurdler Sally Pearson shares exciting baby news

Gold Coast Olympic gold medallist Sally Pearson has announced she is pregnant.

The champion hurdler, who went to Helensvale State High School, took to Instagram to share the exciting news on Tuesday morning.

“My husband Kieran and I are pleased to announce that we are expecting our first child,” Pearson wrote alongside three adorable images featuring herself and her husband, an ultrasound image and a pair of tiny baby shoes.

“To start the next chapter of our lives with such joy and love is more than we could’ve ever hoped for,” she continued.

“We are looking forward to meeting our little one in July this year, just before the Tokyo Olympics start!! Gotta start them young!”

The announcement comes five months after Pearson revealed she was retiring from athletics.

“Unfortunately, I’m here to announce my retirement from athletics,” Pearson said in an interview on Sunrise in August.

“I’m going to hang up my spikes… It’s been 16 years on the Australian team, and my body’s just not up to it,” she said at the time.
